Control before cuffing





Doesn’t it make more sense to have control before handcuffing?


If that’s the case, why isn’t it being taught? Most DT systems teach that resistance typically occurs upon first touch. So that tells me we should always control the suspect before the handcuffs even come out.


My guess is that many DT systems assume Officer presence and verbal commands equal control.


Times change. Tactics and techniques need to change.
